Need help with more identification Please...

My late husband had this knife but I don't have the box.

It says Benchmade Emerson Spec War Model CQC7. No other numbers.

Can anybody help with more of an ID on this knife. I think he bought it in the early 90's, but I'm really not sure.
What is a 970P? I saw this on eBay.

You've done a good job identifying it already.

970P is Benchmade's model number designation for that knife. "P" for plain edge, vs. serrated.

Very early model, based on the screws go directly into the handle material. Highly collectible.

Also, discontinued in 2000/2001 I believe.

As Dano said, it's a nice collectible piece.

that one is probably from before 2000 based on the logo. i believe benchmade changed it from balisong across the butterfly with benchmade, usa to benchmade across the butterfly right around ‘99.
