i recently purchased a spyderco massad ayoob plain edge folder off of ebay, and when it arrived i was disappointed to find out that this wasn't the same knife i fondled at my local knife store.
this particular model is the newest model with the matte finish bead blasted almite handles as opposed to the shiny slippery almite handles on the earlier models.
i got a really good price on the knife and i can't return it to the ebay seller because its my fault not his.
MY QUESTION IS: how can i get/trade a shiny almite handled ayoob folder for my matte handled ayoob folder?
i already posted a trade offer on the knife exchange forum. i haven't had much luck though. hopefully it won't be too difficult because the shiny handles were a major criticism of the knife.
since the knife is literally less than 2 hours old and has been opened less than 10 times, do you think it would be reasonable to ask spyderco if they would be willing to exchange for the earlier model (due to the compliants about the handles)or even to trade for an earlier model at a knife store?
btw i realize that i am in the minority that likes the slick shiny almite handled ayoob.
any and all opinions/help/comments are welcome.
