Need help with my Microtech Mini Socom 1/2002

I recently purchased a Mini Socom from a member on reddit. This is my first Microtech knife and I don't know much about them. I just got my smaller torx bits to disassemble this knife. I'm not familiar with microtech pivots and washers. I opened up the knife to clean it up and check everything out. I found only one washer and it was on the non-lock side of the knife. The washer is very warped as seen in the pictures. From my experience this is not normal! Unless it's actually supposed to be like this. There was no washer on the lock side of the knife. Before disassembling the knife it was a little off center to the right. The knife locked up good and had no blade play. I'm just wondering if this looks normal or if I'm missing a washer!

Also almost all handle and pivot screw heads are stripped. I tried contacting microtech about getting new screws but I haven't gotten a reply. Does anyone know the size of the screws so I could get some more?

Thanks! And hopefully my pictures work!

Hi Barney and welcome to the forums. Unfortunately Microtech does not have
a good customer service. They are very polite but have no records of previous models.
I too have a Mini Socom from '02 but fortunately I have torx screws. My pocket clip broke and it
took 5 attempts at getting a new one. Don't give up though. I also found it easier to reach them by
phone. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! You would think that microtech would have excellent customer service judging by the quality of their knives but I guess not! I also have torx screws and I was thinking about maybe finding screws with the same thread patters and length online somewhere. I'm not sure if that's possible! Literally every screw needs replaced! The previous owner somehow stripped every single one!

As long as it is the manual version, you can send it to Microtech and they'll repair it
for you. Might be a fee involved since dis-assembly voids the warranty.

I'd assume that the previous owner messed it up some how. I'm also not entirely sure when they switched over to a bearing system.
If theres one maker thats notorious in the knife world, its Microtech's customer service. They are very EXPLICIT when they say don't open their knives. They don't make this model any more so its a toss up if they can fix it or not.

That washer is supposed to be like that.
It helps to eliminate bladeplay and also to dampen the opening & closing action.
My LCC has that same washer.

I was going to say, not all washers are flat. Some are wavy on purpose, which would possibly create minimal friction and add some degree of tension when the knife is assembled.
