Hey guys,
Went to a gun and knife show today. Picked up this little beauty but I've no clue on it. Guy had $20 on it, offered $12 and he took it. I think I remember a thread about the K-77 on the shield and did a search but couldn't come up with anything. The main blade has a light etch that is barely readable which says Razor Blade Stainless. The tang reads Schrade Walden, then Stainless under neath it and then below that NY USA. The back of the tang is stamped 825. I always thought that the 825 was a 3 blade knife. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Spent way too much this weekend. Also picked up the 175th Anniversary of the American Flag scrim numbered 0086, a 807UH (needed for my UH collection), 2 Camillus new in the box, my first Schatt & Morgan, an old Ward's knife (don't know much about them but I think they're pretty old; this one is in great shape and I only paid $20 for it.....now gotta look it up in Levine's) and 2 nice Case knives. One is a prototype that the guy gave me a great deal on. Thanks for any help.

Is the knife 3 9/16" closed?

That is the size of an 825RB (same as an 897UH, or an 98OT). Any information I see has the 825 as a 3 blade knife like you said. The grooved bolsters are different than the two 825 knives I have. Both of mine have Stainless in script on the shield.

One observation: On a 2 bladed jack, the second blade is generally a pen blade and lays in front of the clip. In your picture, the second blade is a sheepsfoot, typical of a 3 blade stockman. And it is behind the clip.

Lastly, I swear I've seen K-77 before, maybe it was an auction knife.

I've seen this knife's old timer counterpart, I owned a couple of them actually. nice knives, the older walden is a better knife though K-77 meant something, just don't know what :p

Right you are Muskrat Man

I even have one. It's a 93OT. Not a common Old Timer. No Uncle Henry counterpart.

I'm wondering if K-77 refers to the steel type.

Thanks for the help so far guys. I figure the knife is an oddball or something. I know I've seen the K-77 on a shield before but as usual, I'm clueless. It's a nice knife nonetheless and I'm fairly certain it's worth the $12 I paid for her. Now, if I hadn't spent the other $488 today, I'd be in better shape for the NKCA show at the end of the month. But, I did get some pretty nice knives today.

D & B
I know I've seen K-77 surgical steel blades on some makers knives going back to the '70's. I think that might be what it refers to but I'm not positive.

Eric,
That makes sense and until I hear otherwise, that's what I'm going with. If that is the case, what would that date the knife at? Do you know when they used that particular steel on the knives?

Thanks!

i got one that says razor blade stainless underneth that read PAT. PEND. and on back 825. and on the base reads schrade walden stainless NY USA. and it is two blades. mint cont. Did you ever hear of a PAT. PEND. under razor blade stainless?

You just revived an old thread posted in April of 2007. You have your answers in the last old thread that you revived from December of 2007.
