Does anyone have a extra set of dies for a 50 pound little Giant or know where I could get a set.I need a stretching die for the top mainly,Went to use my strtching dies today and noticed that both top and bottom are cracked and I dont think it would be safe to my health to use them:eek: .I have started a bush hog blade sharpening service and need the stretching top die to do the job.I would be willing to Trade a hunting knife for a set of dies;) or buy them if I have enough money.

Does anyone know the website address for the guys selling Power Hammer parts?

Thanks in advance,
Bruce

Bruce .. Im not familiar with Little Giant dies but I just made a set for a 100lb air hammer. We made them out of fork lift fork steel and 1/2 inch plate. These type dies bolted on with allen head 1/2 inch bolts. The dies were dressed for use as drawing dies.

Maybe you can do this on your press??

Bruce, what are stretching dies? Are they the same as fullering? Sid and his wife was in my shop yesterday in fact. I don't they'll be back in full operation until Monday or Tuesday. He came to Texas to see the Nebraska/Michigan Bowl game, man was he happy!
I have a 50 that I may need to change the dies on. They don't look that bad to me, but are starting to get a tad long in the tooth. A person could block up underneath them I guess, the the "key" may become an issue.

BTW, I'm looking for a 500 lb. Little Giant. If you know of one (besides Devins) I'd sure appreciate knowing about it.

Yes it is the top fullering die I need the worst.I am starting to sharpen bush hog blades in the forge for the locals here (great second income) and I needed the fullering die over a flat die.

I was on there site this morning, still drooling over the dies:D I want the whole set of the interchangeable dies, you know the quick change ones that bolt on. Gonna have to recoup from Christmas and get some knives sold to afford them though.

I would just like to see a 500 lb Little Giant in action let alone own one.Havent heard of any that big around here..

Robert, 500s are few and far between. I have never run across one for sale but have seen a couple set up, they are huge.

I have come close to buying a 250 more than once and know of two for sale right now. My 100 does the job for me, so although I would love a larger hammer, I just don't need one.

The die we are talking about here is referred to has a "drawing die" for drawing out steel. I have bought new dies from Sid at Little Giant before and they are worth the money, well made and heat treated properly.

You can contact Al @ one of the following: uncleal2@alltel.net, 870-642-7643, or go to his web site at www.Riversidemachine.net. Al carries some spare parts for the 50lb. Little Giant. He can make whatever type of dies you need. A call or email is cheap, if he can do service for you that is needed for your hammer. He will need the serial number of the hammer, so you might want to have this information ready if you contact him. Good Luck.

Thanks for the help everybody...Guess I will make a knife and sell it so I can buy a new die:D

Rocker,

Don't know if it is for sale, but Sid has one sitting out in the parking lot...at the shop...(or did in Late Nov, when I went to pick up some coal)

They're hanging onto that one Bruce, it's sort of the "gate guard". Don, the records show only 66 of the monsters built in 100 years. No telling how many have been scrapped out for junk. One sold last summer at a auction in the central states for $500, no one knew what it was. I'm on the trail of that one, but my bloodhound is running out of scent. Do I "need" a 500? No, but I'm wanting a 500 so I'll have a complete set. Hey, some people buy bass boats, some people buy power hammers :o)
