Hi all

i was at an auction and picked up a scantool 150x beltgrinder... its a big one... like the one on this site (its the SC150 )
http://www.scantool.dk/page125.aspx

the problem is that the motor is suppose to be 3x400v 50 cycles...

i'm wondering if i have to scrub the euro motor completely... and get one that runs on 60 ....or is there a way around it...

Greg

ps.. only paid 200 bucks for it....

The 3 phase 400V will be more of a problem than the 50 cycles. You can run a 50 cycle motor on 60 cycles with a slight increase in motor speed over nameplate RPM. Under heavy use, 8 hours a day every day the motor will wear out prematurely but not significantly.

The 400V is also not a problem except under very heavy use, I have run a 440V motor on 550 for years without problems.

thanks George

i'll give it a shot... what the heck....if the motor goes, i was going to swap it out shortly, anyways...

The belts appear to be 6" X 79" and the speed is around 6300 FPM if my metric conversions are right.

Trugrit may have that size belts. That speed will eat up steel at the knife blade size.

the stamp on the side of the grinder says..... 150mm x 2500 mm

it came with a norton belt on it.. R215 b ht 120x

i'll have to figure out that metric conversion...

thanks all

1" = 25.4 mm
1' - .3048 M

10x25mm or 10"=250mm, 10xthat, or 100" is 2500mm or real close to it.......unless I'm doing something very wrong.

I had my shoes on when I figured that, so I could only use my fingers.;)

thanks guys
i'm gonna strip it down first and give it new paint.... so far... its very heavy duty ..
- only damage is on the wheel....one of the serrations is cracked off about a 1/2 inch
and abit on the guard where someone ran the unadjusted belt against the housing..... and wore a little slot on the guard

I'll contact norton and see what they can do...
