Hey hogs!

I haven't been very active for the past couple years, (I know this is going to shock you all, but I find that a lack of disposable income and this forum are sometimes a bit at odds) but I am looking at a few Busses and wondering what kind of value I could expect them to have held. I am also curious about some production specifics on a few of these.

1. BOSS Jack LE and Azula leather sheath. This baby is in mint (or close to it--I can't find any scratches or other flaws. One thing I have always wondered about is the "CUSTOM" logo printed on these (on the side not shown). I haven't seen it on any other Busse models... I'm sure it's on something else, but I haven't seen it. What confuses me about all the various "Custom Shop" and "Crab Shack" stuff is how there will be seemingly full runs of LEs like this one that are apparently made by the Custom Shop, but also lots of one-offs. I know that the CS has made a ton of changes in the past decade in how and what they do, but it really blurs the lines of the what I feel most people mean when they talk about "customs." I guess that what my question boils down to is this: what makes this model "custom," as it's marked?

2. (Choil-less Anorexic) BOSS Street LE. Also mint. No sheath. Although it seems very much a tandem with the BOSS Jack above, there's no "Custom" logo on this. Hmmm.

3. Fusion Battle Mistress with Rainwalker(?) leather sheath. Seems to be new condition. This is one of those cerakoted with "ancient bronze," I think it was called. I have heard different things about how many of these were made, but it was always a low number around 10. Does anyone know the actual number? The sheath was sold to me as a Rainwalker but doesn't have a maker's mark, so I'm not sure.

4. CS INFIdu with Savage Made leather sheath. In great condition, though it has some minor wear on the bevels near the spine just from sheath removal/reinsertion. This is one of those instances where it's marked with a CS logo but looks like a regular production model. I guess that at different points Busse might have done some smaller runs of previous productions in the CS for things like Blade Show or for Ganzas?

5. Forsaken Steel Heart/Nano Fusion Steel Heart with unmarked kydex. This guy has a bit of wear on the belly and the edge was polished on an Edge Pro or something similar. What is the actual name of this knife?

6. Combat Grade Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Steel Heart. Forum member Whupash did a great job stripping and sanding this to the point where it's polished to being somewhere between a satin and mirror finish. He also made the excellent dangler-style kydex sheath. Used with some minor scratches, but still looks great and is sharp as heck. This was my first Busse and it started the obsession!

7. SARGE 7 LE with Armorall Leather sheath. This is in great condition, unused, but there is a bit of handling wear. I haven't bothered to weigh this, but I've always been very impressed by how light it is. It feels even lighter than an uncoated micarta TGLB. Beautiful sheath work by Dwayne.

8. ASH1. This is an oddity, because it's a quarter-inch thick INFI version with a saber grind. The BIG satin finish covers up some wear on the bevels. I would still say this is in very good condition. I am considering listing this (housed in a KABAR sheath) but honestly not sure what it would be worth. Where did this variant come from? I haven't seen any other ASH1s with this thickness and grind.

9. BG BOSS Jack and Azula leather sheath. In new condition. I LOVE the BG BOSS Jacks (probably even prefer them over all the INFI variants) but I have bought three of these over the years as new, and the coating on the tip is always weird. it looks like there the coating was applied too thick and then chipped off or something. Some of them even look a bit crooked or something. Does anyone know what the deal with the tips on these is? This one was the best of the three I have owned, but still looks a bit weird at the tip. I tried to capture it in a photo but didn't do a very good job.

That's all for now... What do you all think?

I recently sold an SAR6 LE for $750 (unused, no sheath). My impression is that the SARGE 7 is a bit rarer, so I'd guess a bit more.

But wait! You asked for history too. So let's see what we can find....

Jerry announced the SARGE-7 here.

And when the LE came out, I apparently took notice (even if I didn't buy one):

The price is up at the Company Store: $547.00 for the LE.
I expect it'll be a hundred bucks less for subsequent editions.

So it was released through the Busse Company Store in February 2012.

The link from my 2012 post is dead, but the magic of the WayBack machine takes us here.
And going back a little farther, for comparison's sake, there's info on the SAR-6 LE here.

So it looks like the SARGE-7 LE was originally released through the Busse Company Store in February 2012, shortly after the SAR-6 came out, and at $547, it was $50 more than the SAR-6 LE.

🤗🤗🤗
Infi ASH1 .25 thick satin. under $400. THOSE WERE THE DAYS.

Number 5 is a nano fusion forsaken steel heart. NFFSH
In Jerry's announcement thread it was just the "Forsaken Steel Heart" but I've seen some posts that just abbreviated it "FSH" and I was confused they were talking about the Fusion Steel Heart. Nano Fusion Forsaken Steel Heart is certainly the best abbreviation to avoid confusion, but it just doesn't quite roll off the tongue.

I believe all numbered Boss Jack LEs have "custom" written on the other side. Both my numbered BJLEs have "CUSTOM" on the other side.

And the Sarge-7 has a skeletonized tang, thats why its so light. (and awesome!)

Man am I tempted by some of these....
I guess it has probably been common practice for the CS to handle the numbered LEs. I just don't remember ever seeing another blade model from Busse with that mark. Someday I would love to tour their facilities and ask them all these weird questions.
