I own a Strider BT. I made the mistake of taking it to a local knife shop to get it sharpened. I told the guy not to change any characteristics of the blade; only to sharpen the edge.

Apparently the shop keeper misunderstood me or didnt care what I told him. He sharpened the knife and ground away at the geometry of the tanto point. It didnt really mess up the overall quality of the knife, but I think he ruined the look of the strider.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to repair it...

well, after hacking off the dude's right arm, you might send it back to strider and see what they can do with it.
I am amazed at the edge that is on my WB, and when it dulls I'll send it back to strider and let them do their thing.
cheers,
Derek

I agree with tattoo. The guy screwed up big time and owes you some compensation. Buying you a new knife would be a VERY good start.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if your BT is not a tanto anymore, the guy removed quite a bit of metal, and may have damaged the heat treat.............

If he doesn't replace the knife, sue him in small claims court. It's inexpensive, no lawyers, and you'll get satisfaction within a few months.

We have a clown that sets up a booth at the Ft Bragg PXs' and destroys(he calls it sharpening) peoples blades for a buck. Sets up a small belt sander and a polishing wheel and for the one dollar he goes to town messing up your blade. The edge he puts on your knife is sharp and to prove it he slices some paper.
I've tried to fix one of my buddies blades he's messed yup. All he puts on is a sharp rounded edge that lasts about .2 seconds when you start cutting real stuff with it.
If that guy did the same to your blade I would have a very serious heart to heart talk to him becouse he has done some good amount of metal removing on the edge and to try and repair that with stones would be very hard and maybe just do more damage. Good luck.

I just got back from a TDY there and watched that guy screw up a PV2's blade. I just walked off, figured there wasn't much to say that wouldn't get me in trouble....
