where do you find the bits for the tamper proof torx fasteners?
that is the screw with the female torx fitting with a metal tit in the middle. the bit would be the matching male with a hole drilled in the middle.
any help?
thanks

Sounds way too familiar. You'll just have to send your Wave back.. I did when it was loose and they sent me a new one.

usually a specialy hardware store will have those or if you know a snap-on guy. if not you can ask your local mechanic where to get one

Our set of them was like $20-30 at house of tools. My father got annoyed with finding those type of torx screws so he bought a full set.

Also has a set of allen keys like that too.

They have a set that addresses a whole bunch of smaller security fasteners, including torx by Wiha (German precision tools). I seem to recall the whole set was around $30.00.

Wiha has got a great selection (www.wihatools.com), however, the security torx screws on the Wave are 5 lobed. Most of the security torx screws that I've seen are 6 lobed. You might have to call their 800 number to double check availability...

Torx is a brand name, and as far as I know only refers to the 6 lobed. I got my security torx bits from local Ace Hardware. If it's 5 lobed, most likely going to have to send it back.

Hehe...got one with my 76mm C&L MAF for the Mustang. Had to have it to remove the sensor housing on the original. Haven't found any knives that use that size, though. :(

I've been looking for a full set of torx or star bits, but haven't had any luck in hardware stores or sears. I'll check out the site posted.

Do a search on the Leatherman Wave this question came up a few months back, IIRC someone had pasted a link to a sight that had the 5 lobed security bits.

I got a set of 32 1/4" hex drive bits that are various security types at a tool shop in an outlet mall. These are obviously not the best quality, but my needs are sporadic at best. Have not needed to upgrade any of them yet. It is not in front of me, but I think I remember they are 6 because they worked in regular torx screws a couple of times.
