My family motto is "Illegitimus non tatum carborumdum" - (sp?)

Roughly translated "Don't let the bastids wear ya down"

I have a new motto for a fast evolving business and need help translating it to Latin. In English it states;

"Just jump off the cliff. You can build wings on the way down"

BS is acceptable because I wouldn't have a clue. :D

Sorry, I couldn't find a translator to Latin, but here it is in Japanese. :D

?????????????????????????

When I translated it back to English, it said

"Exactly jump from the cliff separated. The wing of manner can be
constructed."

:D

Good Luck, sorry I couldn't actually help.

Edit: Well Crap, the browser or forum software wouldn't deal with the Japanese characters. I couldn't even make it an image...

I think this is close...salire abrumpere mons. tibi creare ala a via ponere
it's not exact...jump off mountain and create wings on way down.....
try ask jeeves and ask for how to translate english to latin...I tried ?

My Latin is really rusty, but that doesn't seem quite right...

I think this is closer:

De scopulis sali. In itinere pennas construere habes.

That should be pretty close. "Down" (in "on the way down") is implied... I don't know how you would make it explicit. And "just" (in "just jump") isn't there... I don't know what the Latin translation for that would be. I can't even think of other ways to express that in English.

You might say: "Itadem de scopulis sali." I think "itadem" is similar to the English "just." But I don't really remember... so I left it out.

The translation broken up by words is as follows:

De scopulis sali. In itinere pennas construere habes.

(down from) (cliff/rocks) (jump). (on) (way/journey) (wings) (to make) (you are able).

Hope that helps...

 I have no idea how much of this is BS, but I AM SO IMPRESSED!

Thank you all! :D :D :D

My latin is also rusty but:

Jumpicus offitus clifficus, sproutin Vingus outenis assidous prioritous coyote holest becomin.

This is great. I have a hard enough time with dialect - nevermind Latin. I recently learned that:

  • "Y'all" is singular
  • "All Y'all" is plural
  • "All Y'all's" is plural posessive
How did we ever get by without the internet?

If you go far enough south, we'll make up words as we go....I love playing with the english language...It makes the "word police" go crazy, they can't help trying to correct what is said.

changing to

Just leap from the summit and you can build wings on the way to earth.

gives

Iustus insulto ex culmen quod vos can constructum pennae obvius ut terra.
