Been sharpening some with a Worksharp and Sharpmaker for a couple years with decent results but decided to take the plunge into a professional kit. Think I've decided on the K03. At Gritomatic they have the basic version w/o base in stock as well as their Nova customized units. The Nova Shadow has KakBritva clamps instead of the Tsprof clamp which are mounted with 3d printed extensions I believe to allow sharpening at shallower angles. I'm unsure if the KakBritva clamps can be used w/o the 3d extensions or not, I would think they could but the clamps would rely on the knife for keeping squared with the blade instead of the clamp rail. The Tsprof clamps have a top and bottom lip that help square the clamp to the rail when attached so that may be part of the reason for the extension. I did see where KakBritva sells several clamps in several different configurations from flat as well as 3*, 5*, 7* and 10* undercuts which might be nice options. I believe the Nova units also come with Gritomatic's own base as well as an oversized handle/knob.
So are the KakBritva clamps decent? Thoughts of them being used on the K03 with the extensions?
I'll mainly be using for EDC knives and my Japanese kitchen knives.
