How do you open it? You use one of the two giant thumb studs/disks. Is the pivot way too tight?

I am only assuming you didnt buy a knife that you did not know how to operate and that the store was not even sure if it worked!

You might possible have purchased a knock off of some sort. I dont think ZT knives are sold in random hardware stores.

You have these to things called hands and the end of your arms. They are fantastic for maniputating all types of items. :)

perhaps his namesake is purely ironic, and he lacks opposable thumbs.

hopefully he means he doesn't know how to close it.

in that case, you use your right thumb to pull down on the little tab which is positioned at about the center of the scale. doing so will release the locking mechanism and the blade will be free to close.

That makes a little more sense. Frequently people have no idea how to even close a liner/frame lock blade.

LMAO!!!!!

You need a special spanner to open it. I have no idea where to get one though. I am sure someone has a better idea than I do. I think the pattern is similar to the CRK Umnumzaan.

Thanks for the laugh anyways. I saw 900 post count and couldnt believe this was your question!!

Good luck those are supposed to be awesome knives. I think they have neoprene washers of some sort.

Great knife. I was surprised how much I liked it when I first got mine. It is too heavy for summer, but should go better with heavier clothes. It's a real bulldozer of a knife.

The works are sealed. Here's a blurb on it:

Resistant to sand, dirt and water, this folding military-style locking knife features polyurethane seals around the pivot and lock to keep out the elements. The 5/16-inch diameter, 3.75-inch long blade is Tungsten DLC coated, and it has an anodized aluminum handle. The knife weighs 4.9 ounces, and comes in a matte black.

Awesome, got it apart with 2 small drill bits and some pliers :D Cleaned it up.
Looks crazy inside, i can see why its such a great knife.
