I am in the market for my 1st tactical folder. I am considering the Camillus CUDA and would like opinions. Tanto or Spearpoint? Be kind!

Should be a good choice, especialy considering the offer here on BFC. Personally I'd go with the spearpoint, Over time I have become quite fond of tantos, and even prefer them, but the other is probably more usefull for a first purchase. The cuda looks to be a real good buy, I only wish I could convince my wife I need one! With a couple of recent purchases, and being laid off for the winter, I'm out of luck!!!

nice knife... though i would question the strength of the liner lock. i handled one and if you put some pressure on the spine of the blade when locked open... you can actually see the liner flex..... this was a year or two ago... they may have corrected it... but i would check that out before you buy... thats waht sorta detered me... maybe thats not such a big deal tho? i mean id never seen a liner do that so i dont know

I have to agree about the liner. It is not, in my opinion, strong enough. If this knife is to be used hard you might want to try the Buck Strider. This knife is built like a tank. It only comes with a tanto style blade.

I was thinking of the one featured at the top of the screen, "blade forums official 2001 knife"

sorry if thats not the one your interested in

The offer through Bladeforums is for an EDC w/a 154CM blade.

It isn't one of the "CUDA" CUDAs- refering to the models with the sliding thumb disc, but the EDC as pictured does bear the "CUDA" logo which is the acronym for "Camillus Ultra Design Advantage". The phrase, as I understand it, has come to represent an entire series of Camillus' knives- not just the CUDA models with the sliding thumb disc.

Thank you all for your help! Jimmy, guess I should have known what you meant, but it was late and my brain was going into a holding pattern.
