I have heard that using a leather strop as a finishing touch, does quite well, is there anything other that chromium oxide that works well with it, please let me know:D

If your planning to use the strop to sharpen a straight razor for shaving, I cant think of anything better that chromium oxide. For a while I used a strop stick with stainless buffing compound on it for my knives. It comes in a white stick for about $2. I bought the stick years ago and still havent used it all. I believe the abrasive is Aluminum oxide instead of chromium oxide. Maybe it was just me, but its easy to overdo stropping on a knife with this setup. Just a few passes and a blade that would easily split the side of a plastic grocery bag wouldnt bite into paper. However, for a smooth, mirror polish of the edge it works great.
