I have a 112 slim select. Love it, but in the 6 months I've had it the thumb studs have come off twice, luckily both times in my pocket. Has anyone found a screw in replacement that works? I hesitant to use anything permanent on it except as a last resort.

Well jeepers. That certainly isn't something I read about very often. If it was mine I would send the knife back for a replacement, or just use Loctite Red which should definitely hold it.

I have a rare talent for finding fault in anything and the pressed-fit thumb studs are my complaint about the Buck Slims. My Slim Select thumb stud came completely off the blade and I refitted it with JB Weld. I carried it for another year and then gave it to my brother, with no problems so far. The stud on my Slim Pro came loose enough that it rotated when I tried to use it to open the knife, sometimes causing my thumb to roll off the stud. I fixed it with Loctite and again, so far, so good. I tried looking for replacement studs from supply houses, but the specifications were too vague for me to be confident of a fit. I considered tossing the studs in the bin and opening my knives one handed the way I did before they put those stud thingies on the blades. Buck makes a nail nick version of the Slims that I wish they sold in The States, just sayin'...

Really? I can't find them anywhere on the Prairies and had to use the 'bay.
