need help

can someone direct me where to go to identify a dagger. At least I think it's a dagger. It may be a hunting knife. The blade is 6" and kris it has a raised inscription in spanish roughly translated. One side says "god gave you life". The other side say" you your water the food". It is all metal and the handle looks to be like a totem pole design. I'm trying to get hold of my daughters digital camera to take a pic but that could take some time.
