Hi, I'm new here.

I found an Schrade Walden USA muskrat and was wondering if anyone could confirm they made it in amber jigged bone.

Thanks

Welcome Paul! Hard to tell about the knife without pictures or more information. Some Schrade Walden knives are pre 1973 made. Does the tang stamp have 787 on the back side? Rounded or squared off bolsters? Are there two springs or just one? Are you certain the handle material is bone?

The reason I ask, is some knives are marked Schrade Walden USA, but they were made by other manufacturers after Schrade went bankrupt in 2004.

Did it come with packaging?

That one actually may have been made by Bear and Son. Definitely not pre 1974 Schrade-Walden.

Try posting just the pics on future posts if you can. It's a faux pas to link to active auctions on this site. Ended ones are OK.

Sorry, I was not on the spot Paul. Yes, its a post 2004 non-Schrade mfg knife.

I think Eric nailed it.
It looks like Bear and Sons to me.
I don't think Schrade nor Camillus either made a knife with bolsters shaped like that.
They just look weird to me. Could be the camera angle, but they don't look Schrade/Camillus to my eye.

Yeah, Bear and son is probably right.

Always suspect of supposedly Schrade Walden knives with starting bids that high. That, combined with the "look" of the knife threw up the first red flags when I clicked the link. Too new looking....too shiny, no clear tube, the fact that nobody had "scooped" it up yet......all sorts of indicators.

Someone else on here says to "read the knife".......good advice.

A givaway on the so called Schrade knives made by Bear and Son for Taylor, is that there is only One pin which is on the backspring the rest of the handle is glued in place.
