hey guys,

I have a big dilemma! I can't decide between buying a Bark River Bravo 1 or 2.

I'm looking for a survival/camping knife.

I already have a beastly 9 in Kukri chopper so i'm wondering if it makes sense to get the Bravo 2 or if it's overkill and I should get the Bravo 1. I usually use a Ka-Bar which has a 7 in blade but it's not quite as thick so i'm really stuck as to which one would make more sense. I leave to go to maine in two weeks for a camping trip so I need to order this thing soon!

Thanks for the help!

I just got back from a weekend on the A.T. in New York State. My Bravo-1 was with me and served me well. Mostly for food prep, whittling, camp fire prep and grass and weed clearing of the tent site, etc. It's a hefty knife and if you are a backpacker you know that every ounce counts. I don't own nor did I ever handle a Bravo-2 but it does look a little big for camp chores. I often question whether the Bravo-1 is too big but it's such a great knife I don't go on the trail without it.

that's awesome! I was thinking to go there but then got invited out to Maine. This certainly helps my quest. I'd really like to hear from someone who has a Bravo 2 also so I can compare both of your answers. Thank you for your reply!
