Need holster advice

I recently purchased two pistols, and I'm looking for holster advice for carrying them, while hoping to avoid something that costs a hundred bucks just for the holster.

The first is a Ruger LCP with CT trigger guard laser, that's for concealed carry purposes.

The second is a Glock 19, no laser or light, that's for open carry.

I'm also looking for something that would work with cargo jeans for the concealed aspect, since that's what I'm tending to wear more than anything.

A year and a half ago I started concealed carrying my G19 in a Galco King tuk holster. It's comfortable and though I would like to try other holsters I have not felt compelled to purchase anything else.

The thing is that I'm really not looking to conceal the Glock. I've tried the IWB thing and it's very uncomfortable.

Are the Blackhawk serpa holsters any good? Or are they more hype than anything?

If I am open carrying my G19, I use a Serpa holster with the paddle attached (comes with the unit). You will need to practice drawing without having your finger end up in the trigger guard. I got used to the Serpa system with my USP, so when I got one for the G19 it just worked. The problem lies with the retention mechanism being toggled with your trigger finger, and if you are "enthusiastic" enough, your trigger finger will fall right onto the trigger as soon as your finger moves off of the holster.

Graphic video of this enthusiasm:

The thread in this section that's active about the IWB glock 26 holsters has plenty of good suggestions for your glock holster, all of those g26 holsters are also made for a g19.

My only two carry guns are actually a g19 and a LCP as well. My LCP doesn't have a laser though, only the hogue grips. I use a desantis nemesis pocket holster for the LCP. For my 19 it's the Galco King.

One problem I'm having is finding an LCP holster that's not only cut out for the Crimson Trace laser attachment, but also designed to work with cargo pants pockets. I can find ones that do one or the other, but so far I can't find one that does both. The ActiveProGear model looks promising, but I can't get any information about the laser angle.

Understandable. I dont personally see the need for a laser on the LCP since it is a 10 feet or less gun in my mind. With such a small barrel and long trigger the tiniest deviation throws the rounds off by feet after that distance. I can take slow accurate shots with it at the range but I know that wouldn't happen in a situation. Point shoot and run most likely. If you can't find a holster that supports the laser, maybe consider selling the laser down the road if youre not too set on it. Have you shot it much yet?

You could possibly get a custom fit holster to fit the laser made as well, but that will cost more of course.

Try kusiak leather, custom makes them for lcp. I have a belt pancake holster with thumb break for s&w BG and its awesome.

I carry my 19 in either a Blackhawk Serpa with the paddle- when I open carry or a Crossbreed Super Tuck when I want to conceal. Both work very well for me.

Unfortunately no, I haven't had the opportunity to do any shooting in the past couple of years because there are no ranges in the area, and no one wanting to let their private property be used for such purposes due to insurance worries.

Does the paddle work better than the belt mount plate?

One thing, don't try to get a holster that will do everything.

I have dedicated holsters for IWB, and on the belt.

I regularly carry my glock 22 IWB.

The paddle works surprisingly well. It's quite difficult to remove from your pants, even when you want to.

Nabbed some pics of my 19 in my Serpa for you. Glock 43 is IWB behind it because I didn't feel like taking it off.

The hook that prevents the holster from coming out (ever)

Nice. Thanks.

Isn't it kinda awkward carrying with the extended magazine while it's holstered? I wouldn't be able to get in or out of the car with that.

Hah! I grabbed it out of the safe with the mag already in it. I have difficulty wearing the Serpa (or IWB with the 19) in the car with any mag due to sporty seats. My 43 IWB is the only gun I have that can be worn in the car without beating my kidney up :(

That is exactly why I am getting a 43 or an XDS. Or the new PPS m2. Not sure yet. But yeah, it's a pain in the ass driving in my car with my 19 IWB. Other cars are fine, but my car has sporty seats like yours which just don't mix. I have the LCP as well like I said but honestly that is just my last ditch better than nothing gun. I'd much rather have a single stack 9 mm IWB then a 6+1 .380 in the pocket.

My two "go to" holster brands are alien gear holster, great warranty, quality and price and for smaller pistols the Remora Holsters which work great in waistband or in cargo pockets, you can have them made with or without light/laser room when choosing options.

Spending money on a holster isn't flashy but it's literally the thing that protects you from dying. Don't skimp on a good holster. That said you can get some really good kydex holsters for $50. I have a jm custom and a a shaggy. I carry aiwb but have an owb on the way for my g19. It takes some getting used to but I carry the g19 aiwb a lot b
