Hi - I was given a plain looking carbon steel bladed knife.
It is marked Western Germany.

Blade is 4" and shaped like a carpet hook except it is sharpened on the outside of the hook. Blade is pinned to a rosewood looking haft with 3 heavy steel pins.

The last 3/4" of the haft is cast lead, flush with the rest of the haft, not bulb like.

Sorry I don't have a picture. I'm wondering what type of trade it might be for.

Thanks,
Mike P

Welcome to Bladeforums! I have no idea what that knife was for, but I bet we'll get lots of creative answers soon :D

Sounds like a Corvo made for the South American market. I've seen others made by Herder(spade trademark), and C. Schlieper(the folks that make Eye Brand). These are used like utility knives.

Chile issues a large double edged Corvo to their armed forces.

Barring that, it could be some sort of agriculture or industrial knife.

Check with Bernard Levine also.
