need ideas for a fixer upper project

Got this knife off a guy who completely ruined any collector value it may have had. Its mine now and I want to trick it out if there's anything that can be done. Ya'll got any ideas?

I wouldnt worry about it losing any collector value since it's not a rare knife by any means.
That said , this knife would be an medium difficulty clean up job from the looks of the pics , seems like it's mostly rusted on the blade.
If you are adept at taking it apart ( which is what I would do because I bet there is rust where you cant see it ) you would need some steel wool , some metal polish like Wenol or Flitz , paper towels or some shop rags and an hour or so of time to do the work.

I figured it had some collector value originally cause it had "Limited Edition Feb. 2003" engraved on the blade.

It is a rare model, since the CF scales were not a regular production run.

You could see if Benchmade can reblade the knife, since they may have some blades around. That, and get rid of those jerry-rigged fasteners. There are probably other minor issues, since the previous owner apparently wasn't too mechanically savvy.

If it was me, I'd simply clean it up, hand polish the blade to keep the grind lines as sharp as posible, put the correct fasteners in it, and use it.

You could put a flat grind on the blade and maybe put a high polish on the carbon fiber. That would be sweet.

Or you could sell it to me for $15 .....I like kodiak's idea though. Maybe send the blade to Krein?
