What I am really going for is a medeval Irish gaelic look .
I want a water resistant (slightly) folder style book for sheet music .

I,ll proabably be rivetting it as well as hand stitching . I,ve never rivetted before or made any fine leather articles mostly armguards and quivers so it had best be fairly simple .

I,m thinking of making it like a leather book that I can stitch parchment sheets into .
Maybe a book cover with a flap to flip over the open end to help keep the elements out .

I am also open to suggestions .

I'd think if you removed the contents of either a wolverine pelt or a large badger skin, it would serve admirably, after proper curing of course, as a music folio of sorts. Leave the head and legs on for decoration, or remove them, as you see fit.

Josh ? I did what you suggested though the Wolverine objected rather strongly .
It is a wilder look I am going for . I would still like some refinement as well .
Something like an Irish poet with a couple of drinks under his belt . L:O:L

Thanks Kismet . I,m not sure how I could help young Bert,s literary bend except to say write , write , write . Reading is good as it gives suggestions as to how problems are gotten around . Reading also leads to adoption of styles . That kinda can,t be helped . It can only be partially circumvented by writing so much that you begin to develop your own style .

The novel sized book protector seems the most viable as to style and protection . The site gives an added bonus of two different enlarged views .They show a good deal of its construction . I like the way it is tied shut .

I am still open for more ideas . So far what I have seen is close to what I want . I may either simplify/adapt it or add a simple pouch bag the book cover would slip into so as to protect the sides . It would also allow it to be carried hands free .
