Hey I could use some ideas for a decent and yet very cost effective promotional knife that can have a logo put on it. Ideally single locking blade however any ideas will be helpful.

I'm helping a friend who was looking at some nasty chinese knock offs.
Any ideas???

I figure if no one here has any ideas the world may be over:D

I would contact some of the major knife makers. Kershaw, Spyderco and Buck have all made promotional knives in the past.

I’m not sure just how cost effective your looking for but a affordable knife that’s of very nice quality and seems purpose built for engraving is the Stainless steel Byrd Meadowlark.

BTW it would help to know just how much your looking to spend per knife and how many your looking to buy as you may be able to get the knives at a deep discount if your purchase in bulk.

Yeah these are all valid and good questions. Unfortunatley I know that the cost point is going to have to be really low and the number of items will likely be low as well. Probably a hundred or less? Not the best recipe for a decent knife with a logo.

Any ideas are great so keep em coming. Thanks!!

It seems like I have seen a few of the online vendors offer laser engraving at no charge. If you buy in quantity you could pick out the knife you want and most likely get a discount. I am on my phone and can't search well but an idea to look into.

I know CRKT also does promo knives and might be able to do something in your price range.

These will likely not meet the price point criteria but I purchase Fallkniven U2's for promotional knives.

They can be engraved by Fallkniven before being shipped to your distributor. They can also do logos.

Cost to do a basic engraving is probably around $8 a knife plus the cost of the knife. Not sure what a logo would cost

I only buy a dozen or so at a time, a hundred would be quite an invoice.

I know everyones budget is different, but I consider my promotional items to be a reflection of my company, a quality promotional item, leaves a quality impression with the customer. IMO You are doing your friend a huge favor steering him toward a decent quality knife.

There are many other quality knives out there (many already suggested) so I'm sure you will find something suitable.

I don't deal with hundreds of customers, and I don't hand them out to just anyone, so for me it is cost effective advertising / appreciation.

spyderco bug is only a few dollars, but its tiny. and non-locking.

maybe a ladybug. something from the byrd line is a good idea. contact the factory, maybe they could quote you some prices.

Check out Grohmann knives in Canada. They offer superior quality(German steel) knives. I own 5 of their knives, both kitchen and outdoor, and I love them! Good prices too! I hope this helps you. They will do all types of logo and decorative work. I feel strongly positive about the quality and workmanship of these knives---I'm sure for an order of 100 knives you could get a great deal. Canadian dollars eh!

At one time, you could get Victorninox to print your logo on Classics. I haven't looked in a while, but there were some minimums and while it wasn't cheap, it wasn't outrageously expensive, either.

I just did a quick Google search and found this company that does it, too:

(I have no experience with them.)

I do have experience with promotional merchandise and most local companies in the business will print on whatever you want. They create the equivalent of a rubber stamp and away you go.

If you want dirt cheap but good quality, Spyderco is closing out some Byrd models and you can get them for a steal, like this one:

Your local trophy shop could engrave it.

Wenger Highlanders aren't bad for the money if you go with an imprint.

Thanks everybody. I'm kind of liking the bug and sent him a link to the byrds and some bucks as well. We'll see what gets picked. I agree with you guys in that I personally would think little of a knock off cheapie as a promotion. In this circumstance however I'm not sure that there is the budget or appreciation of what most of us would pick.

I really appreciate all of your help!

why not some opinels? with the wood handles you could get someone to brand them. unless there too big for your needs?

Two more to consider: Boker Keycom and Kershaw LFK. Both around $15.

case has a small and a medium stainless that they engrave/laser etch....I need to look into it myself. I will watch this thread as I am going to do this too. A lot of my customers collect knives and show them off...nice advertising
