Hoping someone can tell something about a Buck Model 119 I acquired that has green laminate wood handles and the Colt Firearms Logo inlayed on one side of handle. The blade I can identify as being made in 1998 as it has the letter U code after 119 but the other side is marked BG42 Master Series. The knife did not have a sheath with it when I bought it. I'm hoping to find out what it would be worth, what kind of sheath did it originally come with, and were many of them manufactured. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

howdy uzi galil,
i dont know the details on numbers ...
i CAN tellyou that it it a major find for both groups !
colt and buck both
and it could bring a good bit for sale
i have seen the colt 110 top 200
and the 119 top 100
but listings on the e are a very fickel thing
if you got it for less then 50 you got a steeling deal!

Do you have a picture you could post? I have seen The Master series 119 before but never with a colt emblem in the handle.
Could be valuable... Does it have the smooth green handle or the checkered handle? Leather sheath, # made???? Standard master series knives were very limited. They used the rest of the blades with smooth green handles in a special production also very limited.

I'd bet Richard Matheny would know if Buck produced any, or maybe if the Master Series emblem was switched out with a Colt emblem, are they close in size?

Sorry, this is a new one on me. I've never seen any documentation on this knife. I would also love to see some good pictures. If the knife has the smooth French Green handle it may be a third party special project using the 119 SP1.

Well, I have more info on this knife then I had a day ago! Thanks. The handle is checkered and The Colt emblem is approx. 1/2 " in dia. I bought the knife without the sheath. Upon closer examination of the it does not appear to be seated evenly into the green laminate handle. It is slightly higher on one side of the emblem. I have never seen a master series Buck before, so I can't make a comparison on the size of the Colt emblem compared to the Buck emblem. I would like to post some pics but but do not know how to yet. I can e-mail as an attachment to an e-mail address but have never posted pics on a forum.

The "escutcheons" are pretty common; I usually buy an old set of Colt grips to get them and put them on custom-made grips for my 38 Super Gov't Model. Here's a pair of OEM Colt Gov't Model/Gold Cup grips, in silver & gold -

Could be someone just did a custom job on the 119...

What does the tang stamp say??? I can't make out the 2nd line...

The green grips almost look like polycarbonate...are they really wood???

The tang reads: BUCK
119 U
U.S.A.
The other side of tang reads:MASTER
SERIES
BG42
After looking a little closer at the handle material it looks like it could be polycarbonate or some type of plastic that is colored to look like laminate.

Ah...The pic made it look like it read "80" or "SU" or something... :)

I thought from the photo that it looked translucent...if it's not, then it's probably wood...why anyone would stain wood green is beyond me...
