Howdy Folks! My first BF thread! I picked this up at the gun show this morning. Its stamped "GEO SCHRADE KNIFE CO. INC. BPT CONN" The blade is just over 3 1/4" and looks to be carbon. The handle looks like stainless folded into a "U" shape, is 4 1/2" long and has both a push -forward button lock very near the front on the spine and a lanyard ring that protrudes from the base. A pruner? A parachute shroud cutter(a stretch)? I apologize for the lack of pics and if I missed it somewhere in in this forum.

It is a parachute shroud cutter, and Schrade Walden and Camillus and perhaps others also made them. The George Schrade Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut is not related to the Schrade Cutco and Schrade Walden Companies of Walden (and Elenville), and the successor, Imperial Schrade of Ellenville. This forum is mostly concerned with the latter, and its cousins, Camillus, Imperial and Ulster.

Tongueriver, thanks for the information on the knife and for setting me hip to the greater focus of this forum.

I've never seen a GEO. Schrade wire frame parachute shroud cutter, if get a chance can you post a picture?

Upstream, I'm having a devil of a time trying to upload a photo. I am working on it and will post when I figure it out.

Lets see if this works....

Cool! Not a wirejack then. George did hold quite a few patents. Is there a patent number on it?

I'm not familiar with this knife, but it looks like a pruner to me, not a parachute riser cutter (A shroud is only used if the chute doesn't open).

Some similar GS knives .

Irv- Thanks for solving the mystery.

Codger- Thanks again for the instruction. As for your prize? My peerless admiration(!), which is either priceless or worthless depending on your point of view.
