Hello everyone. I was hoping someone could help me out with getting some information on this buck 124 I have. I couldn't find a whole bunch on the web but what I did suggested it might be a somewhat special knife? Or maybe it once was. It's in pretty rough shape. Any and all info is much appreciated. My apologies if this isn't the right place to post this this is my first post.

Well its serrated!!!!!That's not something you see all that often..........Like next to never😜..
Nice blade!!!! Welcome

The Buck section is the best place to ask - I've reported the post, asking the mods to move it there for you.
If I remember correctly, Buck stopped using the inverted tang stamp in the early 70s, so if by "special" you meant old, it's that.

Wandered off for a few, and jfk1110 came along. Serrated? I'm sitting in the dark, with my phone battery at 4% - I didn't even see serrations. Time to plug in, I guess, or turn a light on

Thanks for the responses! And getting my post to the right spot. So from what I've gathered it's possibly from 1972?

I don't think so. As far as I understand those came with a kydex sheath of some kind. I could be wrong.

It's a 124 frontiersman. Nemo's came with a plastic divers sheath. Buck never had kydex sheaths back than and never has for the 124. Yours is a version you don't see many of but I wouldn't necessarily call it rare.

Seen a lot of knives that lacked their original sheaths. I was under the impression that the serrations and lanyard hole were only present on the diving (Nemo) version.
