Looking for any info I can on this buck knife. not trying to sell just looking to find out more about what I have.
Side one-Buck Custom u.s.a
Side two-GB-015

Welcome to the board Chubbz.

Looks like a 639 Fieldmate without the handle though the custom stamp is a mystery.

It is a mystery to me too.

I don't think it was made from a stock 639 because I don't think the hidden tang would be that full.
The blade seems to be a 639, but the bare tang with full finger grooves seems custom.

The stamp "GB 015" looks like a stamp Rich might know about from his tactical knife knowledge.

Just got to looking at this again and maybe it's a 185 Buckmaster Lite that has been modified?

I think you might be right. I've never held one of those and really haven't paid much attention to them, but I do remember seeing a few. I believe I remember them having the teeth on the spine like that.

I would still love to hear from Rich to see if he knows what that stamp is about on the pile side.

Found out yesterday the knife was made by Leroy Remer in a Buck Custom shop in 1985, he made about 10 of them. he worked for Buck for 17 years now he has his own company making knives. Triple R knives.

Buckmaster LT. New in the 1986 catalog. 7.5" blade.
The 639 Fieldmate has a 2" shorter blade at 5.5".

This is for sure from the BUCK Custom Shop. Leroy made 15 of them not 10 yours is # 15. Some had black oxide like this and some were media blasted. It's smaller than a Model 185 and longer than a Model 639 (only by an inch or so).

PM me if you wish. THX Rich

Glad you saw this Rich.
I had a feeling you might know the story about this knife when I saw those stamped numbers on the pile side of the tang. :)

yowser !
seems I recall having one much like this..

if not the same thing
and the reason it is not the same size as other known models
(if it is jest like the one I had)
is
it was made from the 1776 bicentennial knife blank
I owned one and was offered to much for me to keep it
as I really wanted to buy some more 110's
[ don't ya know you cant own them all ;) ]
I don't know the number of the one I had any longer but the man that bought it
really really was glad to get it
hope he still enjoys it !

I have one of these that I have had since I was a kid. It is still in a brown buck cistom box and has the original nylon sheath. I have been trying for years to figure out what I have. Is it valuable or particularly collectible?
