Need info on this knife. Buck Nighthawk 0650-PX-O Cat. 9350. The knife is the olive green and black handle with a partially serrated blade. Blade is marked BUCK 6500 USA Pat. Pending. Is this a common form of the Nighthawk?

A photo would help - especially the tang stamp

Was there a reason between the two blade colors?

"Blade is marked BUCK 6500 USA Pat. Pending."

Is there a date code symbol? Any chance that second '0' in 6500 is actually a 'U' such as 650U or is that a typo error. The the letter could possibly be rotated in some other orientation, upside down or sideways.

The model and catalog number 650-PX-0 #9350 is for a Cabela's Pro-Line version of the knife. That knife would normally be marked with 'Pro-Line" etched on the blade, not a black blade. I wonder if you have a mis-matched knife and box. The 'X' in the model code is the designation for a serrated blade so at least that part fits. Pictures would really help as there are some things that really don't add up (to me).

Thank you. The blade does read 650 upside down U. The blade is the black one. You may be right about the wrong box for this knife.

OK. Upside down 'U" is the date code for 1997. Your knife and box are mismatched. The Cabela's version (your box) would be about 2003 and the knife blade would have "Pro-Line" etched on it.

DSS, not necessarily. I have a Pro-Line 103 without etching but with the typical serrations.

OK, I learn stuff all the time here. Here is my thinking. My own experience is I've never seen one without the "Pro-Line" label. Also, that model is found on the 2003 Special Projects list. I would think that a 1997 dated knife wouldn't be issued in 2003. Granted, Buck could be using up old stock. The deal with Pro-Line marked knives was Cabela's worked out free lifetime sharpening for them with Buck. That would not work if the knife was unmarked.

Yes, thank you for the informations. Of course, you are right, the knife doesn't fit to the box. I only wrote a few additional informations to the pro line knives. Excuse me please if I could not put my ideas across.
