I might have gotten this wrong but didn´t Pat Crawford make french type (Laguiole-like)folders in the past? Couldn´t find any on his web-page however. Does he still make these? Do you know of any other source of this type of folders, custom or production?
Any help greatly appreciated!

I have one of the large French Folders with a bead blasted finish and black grips. It's a really beautiful, elegant knife with a great blade ground from ATS-34.

The only drawbacks to these knives are:

can't be closed one handed

no clip

I carry it when I wear a vest, because it fits nicely in a vest pocket.

I think I paid about $350 or so for mine. I bought it directly from Pat Crawford several years ago.

A.G. Russel has a knife in his lineup with almost the exact same mechanical system. They are not custom knives and cost about $135 I think. I haven't seen one of Russel's knives in person.

I have seen numerous ones selling in the $250-275 range. A number of them had no handle slabs though.

BTW, Kevin - They can be closed with one hand, just takes practice

Hi Pelle!

There is a spyderco that looks like laguiole.
Try a search at the spyderco-forums.

PS. If you want a french folder by Crawford, try and ask him?

Hi Jailhack,

thanks for the tip! I'll try and close mine with one hand, but if I end up with nine fingers don't make fun of my typing. :-)
