You can't beat a Dempsey knife. I own several myself. David is a great guy and somewhat of a mentor to me in the knifemaking world.
Dempsey is starting to make a good name for himself but my feeling is that he is still one of the most under-rated knifemakers out there today. I've never seen a knife come out of his shop that was of poor quality. Many custom makers will send you a dull or poorly sharpened knife. Not David Dempsey! His knives are always sharp.
You would be quite satisfied with his blades. Dempsey has many designs and doesn't seem to stick to just one or two types of blade styles. He can make just about anything from what I have seen. If you have not visited his website you can check it out at

One word of caution------ be prepared to purchase more than one. If you own one Dempsey you will surely want another one. Of course you really want to check out the Mini Asian elephant Tusk and the Micro Tusk.

My favorite Dempsey knife is the various Kozuka styles. I'm just a big Japanese knife fan.
Don't be afraid of Mr. Dempsey and his work. You will be proud to own it. It is quality any way you look at it.
