M,
I have several Carl Schlieper folding and fixed blade knives, including one you describe as similar to the Puma White Hunter. Mine is marked as a Trophy Line Guide Knife (model #356R). The blade is 6 1/8" long, overall length is 10 3/4" and it has a stag handle.
I bought all of my Schlieper knives in europe between 1974 and 1993. They were purchased for use during extended tours in Africa & the Middle-East. While not cheap, they were affordable, robust and available in good gun & knife shops in Germany and Luxembourg.
They were used and abused daily during my "excursions". I used them for everything from chopping and digging, to cooking and quartering animal carcasses. I never had one fail me in any way.
My favorite is an ice-tempered,7 3/4" clip point bowie. It has a wood handle and is 12 3/4" overall length. It took a beating over the years but still works just fine.
I've never seen a Schlieper fixed blade for sale in the USA, but based on my experience with them I would buy another one in a heartbeat.
