So I have been on the hunt for a nice EDC folder that is a good bang for the buck. I previously EDC'ed Benchmade Mini AFCK 154CM and loved it. Used it for cleaning fish, opening packages, sharpening pencils, whittling marshmallow sticks, removing splinters, etc... Problem is that some turd decided to make it thier own and thus leave me without my favorite EDC. The PIKA or PIKA 2 is similar in blade shape but I like G-10 and the edge retention of 154Cm.

I was very tempted to purchase an affordable Spyderco tenacious, or persistence with G-10 and 8cr13 china steel but today while at the local tactical shop I came across the Lone Wolf Dark Raven for just 78.00 ithas a liner lock grippy G-10 scales, pocket clip and S30V steel blade(super value in my opinion) for under 100 US. On top of all that it is made right here in the good ol' USA. Does anyone have experience with this knife ? With so many features and such a low price point why aren't more knife nuts reviewing this blade?

Lone Wolf just isn't a mainstream company I guess. The Blackfoot won an award at Bladeshow this year.

I have read some good things and some bad things about Lone wolf. There was one review I read a post that stated that their quality was going down hill. Yet another review by nutnfancy on youtube gave the "longhorn" a great review. The rest of the reviews I have found on the web have all been centered around thier "Dual Action" switchblades or Harsey T1, T2...

How is the heat treatment and durability on Lone Wolf S30 blades ?

Thanks for any help.

I have been a huge fan of Lone Wolf for years now, and I can attest their Heat treating/cryogenic freezing makes one durable blade. I own the Paul Prankster, Dark Raven, and Diablo D/A and even with the tiny point there is no noticeable wear on it and I tear down boxes in a stockroom for a living. Also the Black coating holds up very well but IMO stone wash looks better. The Dark Raven (now blackfoot) is a fantastic knife. Blade HQ dot com has them for a fairly reasonable price.

Something Id really like to know is why they changed the name from Dark Raven to Blackfoot?
