A question for any Marbles owners:

I have a Marble's Campcraft that I recently purchased at auction. It has a full stag handle and nice fit and finish, but I'm not sure about the tip. The point of the knife is somewhat rounded, and not as sharp as I've seen on other brands of hunting knives. However, the grind lines are very symmetrical and it seems this might be intentional rather than a flaw. I can see that a somewhat rounded tip could actually be an advantage for a skinning/camping knife. Is this typical for Campcrafts or for Marbles knives in general? Thanks in advance.

I've got two Marble's Campcrafts, one with an elegant micarta, sculpted grip and the other in stacked leather (my fav'). Both have a somewhat rounded tip, as you observe, so it's intentional. I think this is a highly functional design, with enough straight edge for whittling, chopping, etc., and plenty of belly for skinning and slicing. The tip with its slight swedge is certainly sharp enough for the opening incision on game (not to mention, plastic bags, etc.:D ). You're lucky you got one with an even, symmetrical grind tho'; my stacked leather one has a few minor irregularities, which don't affect its cutting ability at all. I'm sorry to see these disappear from the Marble's product line as they are a well-thought-out and proven design. Also, they're in superb, cryogenically tempered 52100 high carbon steel, the best IMHO, rather than Marble's new 'mystery steel':barf: (The latter Smiley is more a comment on Marble's marketing strategy than on the quality of the new steel, whatever it is.)

Thanks for the info. You're right about the design of the Campcraft; I think this knife is a definite keeper.
