need info on my new 650

happy new year to all......... just got this late Christmas present:) and
wanted to find out more about it.....it is a thick prybar of a knife and
i was wondering what type of steel and when it came out and any other
tidbits. of course i tried searching the forum but found out you gotta pay.
any help would be appreciated. thanks, andy

You've got yourself a nice Buck Nighthawk... made from 440HC steel. If you search the Buck Knife site http://www.buckknives.com you'll get the details.

That is one tough knife... seach youtube for "Nighthawk destruction test", I think you'll be impressed.
 
Actually that knife has the \ year stamp... 1994 model year. It could be 425M or 420HC... I do not belive it would be 440HC or did you mean 420HC MW?

It is one of the earlier models with the pat. pending stamp also. Use that baby, she'll take good care of you!
 
There are three knives of the Blackhawk series. A 650, 653 Tanto blade, and 655 Short blade. All blades are about .238 thick. I also have a 1994 model 650. My 653 is a 1997 model and my 655 is a 2004 model.

You have a good eye, I missed the '/' in the picture... it could very well be 420HC.
