I have a older Schrade sheath knife retreived from my parents house last time I visted. I acquired the knife as a boy in the early 80's at a garge sale. The knife is very much like the Sharp Finger, however the blade turns down in a hawk bill fashion as opposed to the up turn of the sharp finger. The balde is carbon steel and marked Schrade. Where the Shrap finger has a plate that says Old Timer, my knife say Hunting. Any info on the age, value (lol) of this knife would be apreciated.
Thanks

Your tang marking will tell you the vintage. Schrade, post 73 Schrade walden 46-73, Schrade cutlery company pre 46. What is the over all length and handle material. The knife is a sheath knife not a pocket which is confusing. Schrade did make a drop point but it did not look like a hawkbill, However schrade did make a pocket knife with a hawkbill blade.

If you could send a scan or jpeg attachment and any other pertinent info to lt632ret@frontiernet.net the chances are I may be able to identify it, and give you some answers. Good luck LT

Two of the dropoint Schrade models I previously made reference to are presently on ebay a 501 SC (#741634377) and a 154 OT (#740711535) . You might want to check to see if these are versions of your knife. Good Luck LT

Thank you for your help. The blade is correctly termed a drop point. Item 739708017 on ebay is a close match with my knife. The diferance being the marking Hunting in place of Old Timer on the handle plate and the carbon blade. The tang is marke schrade USA so it is post 73. Most likely late 70's and no realvalue other than it is a good using knife that take a nice edge. Think I'll keep it for camp use.
Thanks.
