Here is the thing. My son is showing a budding interest in knives. He is only 11 but he has a small Gerber and buck. He also loves throwing my Brend Hatchet. We recently watched the movie Wind Talkers and he loved the stag handle fighter that the heavy set code talker used(white horse I think). I am looking to get him something similar, for his wall. Maybe he can use it later, but I think he just wants a looker. Before anybody gets all bent out of shape over movies, we will let him watch anything that has a lesson to be learned, or that is fact based. He is proud of his country and his family members that have served it, so I think a "blood and guts" war movie helps him understand that what we have was paid for with real lives. And if you have issue with kids with knives, then my guess is your on the wrong boards.;) Anyway, stag handled bowie is not really my thing, so I don't have a clue as to where to look or who makes a decent one. So any info would be of help. I also have him interested in swamprat knives and he even is starting to like my Busse Active Duty! Thanks for the help folks.

Alpha, I think that knife had a bone handle. I dont have the link but if you can find the link for the neo-tribal knifemakers, I think they can make what you're looking for.
I dont think there was anything in that movie that was innappropriate for an 11 year old, it's good for them to know.

alphamaniv,

You might want to look at the knives from
Muela, a Spanish company. They have some very nice bowies, with fine stag, a useable steel and decent prices. The link is to just one site that offers them, you can find them on ebay also. Lot of nice display cases out there too.

Regards,
Greg
