I have a 1055 carbon steel bladed kukuri machete . I didn,t pay much and its a lot of fun . Can anyone illuminate me a bit on the steel ? How is it likely to have been treated ? It seems a bit soft . That can be good for a thrower . It sticks real nice .

1055 is a plain carbon steel. In that blade it is likely spring drawn. Most machetes are made of a very similar steel.

Is it easy to find this steel ? It seems pretty easy to work and The simple shape of it would make neat throwers . Would it come annealed and I would have to treat it ?

I would not look specifically for that steel, just ask for a medium carbon steel, there are a large number of very similar alloys which would work well, spring steels for example.
