Hello everyone;

I recently acquired this bali. I was hoping that someone on here could give me some info on it. It is 9" overall with a 4" blade. Solid brass handles and liners with brass pins holding the two together. Stainless steel pivot pins.

It has matching markings on the spine of the tang and on the latch.

It was a bit tight on one handle when I first got it, but it has loosened up nicely since then from "playing " with it. (could'nt resist the temptation...I'm so weak..

I know I got it at a good price but would like to know how good. Does anyone have an idea of origin and approx. value?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Jonathan

A hundred bucks seems a little high, but auctions do tend to bring in more dough than some things are worth.

As for origin.. chances are it's made in the Philipines. It looks like the standard 23cm "Rambo Blade" brass balisong. It's a good looking bali, and still available today.

I agree with Mr. Gollnick about you"HMF"

Kentdog...No disrespect intended but I hate it when blade styles are referred to as "Rambo" style.

The wacky world of the auctions has had a wierd impact on the price of balisongs lately.

I have a btangas with the three marks that your knife shows and I believe that it is a mark of a knife of the WWII era. Do not quote me on that.

Sorry, Sabo

. It was my impression that the Filipino blade style shown was actually called the "Rambo" blade style.

Hey Kentdog...Heck, it may be!

Like I said sir...No disrespect, just that "Rambo" puts that "killer" train of thought to the average non-user! Like I said, No disrespect!

Be well!

>>Probably worth at least $100 at auction.

Yeah right

In todays market you would be doing good to even get $50 for a Filipino hand made. I have around a dozen of them on my web site that have been sitting there for the last 6 months and it's been slow moving them. I don't really care, because it's so hard to get them over here. But I think the days of people paying $100 for a knife you can buy in the Philippines for $10 are over. Mostly because you can find someone in Manila with a computer, who would be glad to have one custom made and ship it over here to you. Thanks, JohnR7 www.Balisongknife.com

Without seeing it, this one looks especially nice to me. The market seems rather awash with the common varieties with various wood and bone inserts. But brass-on-brass doesn't show up very often. The pins also look very good. This one looks to me, without seeing it, to be high-caliber.

Yes, the balisong you have is philippine made. It is the sandwich style brass handles not solid. They call that blade style here as "Rambo", and started making them when the Rambo knife became popular with the same movie.
