Hello. Just joined and I have some questions about a Kukri knife and scabbard I picked up at a yard sale.
The knife is 18" long measured along the top and the wood handle is just over 5" long with a steel cap on the butt/pommel.
On one side of the blade the word India is stamped and the other side is stamped with the letters WSC and an Arrow but there are no other marks on it.
The sheath is black leather and badly dried out and coming apart and there are also two smaller knives with no markings in smaller sheaths built into the large sheath.
I have pics of the knife and sheath but can't figure out how to attach them.
Thanks. Dr.Tramp...........

"WSC" is a mark used by the Wilkinson Sword Company. And the British use an arrow proof mark on bladed military weapons (and other things).

From what I've read, prior to 1951, the British did have military issue Kukris made in India.

But the combination of "WSC" and "India" makes me suspicious, as I believe that Wilkinson kukris were all made in England. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can clarify.

One has to be careful of fake stamps from people trying to make a knife appear to be more historic than it really is.

At your membership level you need to use a photo hosting site like Imgur to post pictures on Bladeforums.

As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. There are several free ones.
If you use imgur,
create a free account
Click <NEW POST>
Follow the directions to upload.
Once a picture has been uploated, go to the top right and mouse over the bubble with the first letter of your user name. That gives you a drop down.
Select "Posts"
That will show all your images. Click the image you want to post, then to the right at the top, copy "GRAB A LINK" address.
Then go to your post and click the "insert Image" tool on the tool bar. (It is located between the LINK tool and the SMILEY tool.)
Paste the picture address into the resulting popup, then click "Insert".

If you use another hosting site:
Once you have uploaded a picture to the hosting site, copy the web address of the picture. Note: picture web addresses must end in .jpg .png or .gif

Then go to your post and click the image tool on the toolbar next to the smiley tool. Click the link icon in the popup. (Looks like a chain.) Paste the picture address into the window. Then click the INSERT button.

That was my understanding, also.

As Bernard Levine posted, "Read the knife, not what it happens to say."

Thanks. It's nicely balanced and takes a good edge so it seems like it was made with good steel but I'm not a collector and just got because it's a neat looking knife and was cheap. 😁
A leather working friend is going to make a new scabbard for it.

H HexY3co is 100% right. The learning curve is shallow and the task, once learned, takes seconds. The benefits far outweigh initial discomfort.

Also don't expect members here to do all your work for you.

I'm sure this part was a generality, and not something he was suggestion you are trying to do.

D Dr.Tramp I would encourage you to re-read posts 10 and 11, and consider editing your reply to reflect the actual intent behind the posts instead of a knee jerk reaction to how it may have sounded on first read.

I asked a simple question and have responded courteously to the replies so why are you acting like an asshole?
That's not going to cut it here. You've received a warning and if it happens again you can ask your questions on another forum.

If you have an issue with a member, use the report button. We expect a certain level of civility in the threads.

I joined this forum because I had some questions about a Kukri knife and the members that responded were quite helpful until one individual implied that I expected other people to do all the work of researching the information.
I considered this to be insulting and you must have noticed this too because you commented on his remarks but all you said was "He sounded insulting but he really didn't mean it" like some idiot parent trying to justify the behavior of their spoiled brat so I called them out because I have a bad habit of treating assholes like assholes.
If I offended you by being honest then that's a clear indication that your forum isn't an organization that I wish to be a part of so thanks to the helpful members but I'm out of here.

One, your facts are wrong. I didn't comment at all until you received a warning. However, you have made it clear that you do not intend to drop the matter despite the member clarifying his intent up thread.

You're right. You're not a good fit.
