I was given an old Barlow knife from a friend that bought an old tin in an antique shop to decorate a home with. (an interior decorator) In this tin was an old barlow in fair condition. The blades were not chipped or ground down, and looked to be 95% or better original. There were some heavy black patina looking marks on them. I was able to remove most of it and cleaned up the blades as good as I could without imparting any damage to them. I also sharpened them and oiled the joints.
The knife is now working very good and is in my EDC rotation. The knife has ivory colored scales, and a silver cap with Barlow inscribed on it in a cursive script. The blade is stamped Colonial made in USA.
Both blades have a short curved nail slot for opening.
Don't know much about it, and it is my first Barlow, since I was a kid. (many moons ago
) Any information you guys can give is appreciated. I will try to get some pictures taken if I can get the wife's camera to work, and post them later.
