Hello all.
I recently purchased a Blackjack Blackmoor dirk and have a few questions. For those of you familiar with the Boker Applegate Fairbairn Boot knife the Blackmoor is basically the same style of blade, eg flat on one side and triangular on the other, with a different handle. While I like the blade shape and design, as well as the crossguard and the feel of the handle, I find that it's not as sharp as I would like. I remember when I bought one of the first Anaconda II's several years ago and that was scary sharp out of the box. The Blackmoor does not quite shave hair and has some trouble with free hanging paper as well. My question is, is this knife convex ground like the old Anacondas, or is it hollow or flat ground such that I can bring the edge up to my standards with a sharpmaker?

Thanks in advance.

A double edged blade that narrow is meant as a stabber, not a slicer, so it's no surprise the Anaconda easily out-cuts it, however it can certainly be made sharp enough to slice paper.

Lay the blade down on a flat surface, like a counter top, so that one of the primary grinds is touching it. If it rocks back and forth between the edge shoulder and the spine, it's convex. If it sits perfectly flat but the middle of the bevel is raised off of the counter, it's hollow. If it sits perfectly flat along the whole width of the bevel, it's flat ground.
