Hey guys,

I recently purchased a new Spyderco knife, in addition to my Manix 2 I got myself Spyderco Firefly. Very cool looking knife and I really like it. However, I experienced a problem with it and was wondering what would you guys suggest. Firefly out of the box has a pocket clip for the tip-down carry. All my knives have their clips in tip-up position, so I did the same thing to my Firefly. After I removed the pocket clip the blade shifted and centering was off. Also, pocket clip screws are made from soft metal and I stripped head on one of them. Another thing that I noticed is that liner edges are very sharp and when I disengage the liner lock it cuts deep into my skin. I am planning on sending my knife to Spyderco for warranty repair, I've never used them before and was wondering if you can share your recent experience with Spyderco Warranty services. What do you guys suggest I should do with this knife, will it be covered by warranty? I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Where did you get the knife from? Can you return it? I have moved many a Spyderco pocket clip and never had an issue with the screws stripping or the heads rounding out.

I got a Firefly awhile back and the centering was way off. Not sure if it was off before I moved the clip or after. Regardless, I ended up adjusting the lock bar so it wasn't putting so much pressure on the blade. It's well centered now.

Thank you for your help guys! I’ll probably return this knife for refund. Most likely get another Spyderco!!!

I suggest not to return it to the dealer. You stripped a screw of it and hence it is your knife now. Send it to Spyderco for repair.

yea I never had a screw strip and they should have a dual hole to use two different sized head's incase they do strip. I would send it back to the vendor rather than asking spyderco. But im sure they would help you out by emailing new screws to you.

Unfortunately, my email isn't that advanced yet...:p

I admitted to Spyderco that I accidentally stripped a screw on a Paramilitary 2, and they snail mailed me a whole screw set completely 100% free of charge.
I think that the have a designated day for shipping screws so it depends how close you are to that day. I needed a few for my PM2 and it took close to two weeks. I do find them to be very helpful otherwise. Only issue I have with the warranty dept. is that they do not inform you of shipping date or tracking #. In my experience the are the only vendor that I have encountered that will not give you that info.
