Nathan,

Nice lines..I like it...would be quite a looker in damascus...:D

Take Care

Nathan,

Maybe it's me, but I think the butt needs to be thinner or longer? You know the part where the pinky goes.

Also, for me ... you see that spot where the grindline hits the spine? I think a little lower (to make a trailing point) would be cool. You know? Just following the curve you already have from the ricasso to the point. Not much trailing point.

Well you asked!

If you wanted it to be I guess it could be.
I have somthing inmind that will set the knife
off,;)

Dean, that is what I was thinking. Especially in some SC Knives Damascus. I heard that is some really super nice stuff.;)

Nathan, I like it alot.

Is it a fighter? I would want a narrower handle by the pinkie also, but mostly so that it tightens in the grip when pushing forward.

It's also kinda sharp in the pomel, which is just a practicality thing. If it's a way out fantasy deal I still think the handle is a little out of scale.

I like it a lot.

I really don't know what type of knife you would call it just somthing that came out off my head, this is just a drawing
there will be more serious thought that will go into it
before I attempt it.All this input helps

I'd go with it except I'd round the point off at back of tang. The bottle opener is unique.

the top part of the guard will not like a bottle opener when the
bolsters are on it.
I am going to do somthing I have not seen on a fixed blade with the bolsters,at least not to my knowledge.
This is just a rough drawing to see what is good and what needs to be tweaked.Getting input form your knife makers freinds will make
for a better knife in the end.;)

Nathan,
I really like that design, can't wait to see it completed.

The first thing I thought of when I saw it was a high school buddies electric guitar. It was a BC Rich and it had the exact same "flow" to it.

When I was drawing it and when I was done I looked at it
and I also saw what you are speaking off.:)

I don't know enough of what is out there, but bolster wise, I think it is interesting to do somethign that is like a Strider, but to cover the whole guard area with a bolster. Can't quite visualize it, but it's different.

Fighter wise, the blade is quite a bit like a Lightfoot. I don't mean it's a copy, just if that's tactical, so could this be.

I'd do it as is Nathan. It looks like a nice tactical/fanstasy cross-over design. Keep us posted, I'd like to see what you come up with.

Nathan, My advice is. Don't ask for anyone's advice on style. If you like it, do it. That is where orginality comes from. If you grind the blade and don't like it, change it. but it should be all you.

Nathan,
When I'm designing something new I make a prototype. I use plexiglass - it's free from the sign makers dumpster, and it's easy to shape. Wood or anything else would work also.
When I have the prototype I bring it in the house and hold it a while, playing with it while I watch the boob tube or whatever. Sometimes I have to make slabs for the handle in order to get the feel I want. My main problem is that I have smaller hands than lots and get complaints that the handles are too small.
If you want to send me a full size drawing I'll make a couple for you.
Lynn

FWIW I'm with Lynn.

I have some 1/4" press board. I glue the drawing to the board. Rough cut it out with the bandsaw and shape on the grinder. Boy does it help to hold a sample in your hand, before you start into the steel.

thanks for the offer,I make my protypes of of wood I have also done some out of plexiglass also.
I am in the same boat as you I have smaller hand but I have wide palms and my finger are thick.
I try to make the handle so they are a little big to my feel so some one with big paws can handle the knife and it be comfortable
in there hands.
I do a proto with every knife I make before I put it in steel
thanks
Nathan
