What do you all think about the Sarki Shop making canvas sheath covers for khukuris. This will slide on right over the leather and be custom made for each sheath. We have not worked out a pricing scale yet but we want to make it inexpensive so that everyone can afford it. They would be covered in O.D. green unless other arrangements are made.(There are a couple canvas covered khukuris pictured on our web site, page 1.) We have also been thinking of making khukuri display racks. (No pics. yet we are still working on the design.)We need your input to make this happen. I need to know how many would show an interest in these ideas.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I wouldn't mind a cover to keep my sheaths from getting torn up while I'm beating around the woods. How much would they likely cost, Terry? And do you need to remove the chape to fit them?

Terry,

Good product ideas and good luck! I would definately be interested in racks. I store my kuk's in their scabbards edge down and would would want a rack that would hold them in this way, or hang them vertically. Also, individual display stands that fit kuks in their scabbards are hard to come by.

The canvas covers sound good to me as an additional way to protect the leather from the merciless sun and extreme dryness we have here in Summer.

Terry, this lurker says do it! I'd buy a cover (or several!) and probably a stand as well!

Doc. We don't necessarily have to remove the chape but some people do like the chape removed and actually put on the outside of the canvas cover to protect the tip. If it is placed under the cover it will probably just make it come to a sharp point but the canvas will wear faster at the tip and will not hold up as well.
As far as price goes I was thinking about $15 and the customer pays shipping. I think the min. priority parcel postage is $3.95 + .85 insurance (we don't mail any thing without ins.) *extra custom work will be charged per order just give us a call before shipping.* With any Sarki Shop work it is always better to e-mail or call first so that we can be watching the mail closely for your prized posessions. Orders will be done in the order received.
We have not decided on a khukuri rack design or price yet but we will probably put a couple for sale on the web page to see how they sell and if everyone likes them first. They should be on the web page in the next week or two.
