i am buying a piece of chad nichols stanles damacus and would like it made into a katana. who would you trust with this project and why?

I'd be inclined to talk to Rick Barrett. Most smith's tend to have a medium that they are happy in. Rick seems to be a bit more flexible then most and he does good work.

I would not recommend it, period.

Stainless Damascus is not a good material for swords, carbon damascus would be much better....better choice for the stresses that a sword deals with, would look just as good hanging on the wall.
