I've laid to rest the last remains of my trusty 3 Season Jacket this morning. So, as you can imagine, I'm looking to replace it with something....

What's everyone wearing?

I'm also looking into Hooded Sweatshirts and Anoraks so any help / suggestions would be much thanked!

I have a nice breathable water proof patagonia jacket. It is great! You pay a littel more for patagonia in the beginning but the stuff is very well made.

What's it for? I like my Filson Whipcord Cruiser a lot, but nowadays you have to get Whipcord jackets through Filson's Cu$tom $hop. The Whipcord Cruiser is also more of a 2-season (Spring and Fall) jacket.

Lately I've been looking at Ventile Cotton Windbreakers for 3-Season every day wear. They are spendy, but realy nice. You get a versatile look (jeans to slacks), awesone wind protection, a very high degree of water resistance, great breathability compared to synthetics or laminates, and more spark and flame resistance than most synthetics.

Example of Ventile Cotton Windbreaker I can't really justify the price :(

Information on the Fabric and Manufacturer

Here is a cheaper source of Ventile garments www.west-winds.co.uk

For more hardcore outdoor wear, I'd look at woolens from www.ibexwear.com or other "softshell" garments.

I picked up a Helly Hansen wind breaker about 5 years ago. It didn't have Gore-tex but, something called Helly-Tech. Got it off the close out rack at a sporting goods store while on the road or, I would have never considered Helly Hansen for myself.

It has been a great jacket. Keeps me dry in the rain. Warm in the wind. Dry when the Sun picks up. It's good down to about 20 farenheit which is amazing for such a light windbreaker. Being windproof sure helps. If I heat up from activity, it wicks the sweat away through the breathable liner and, I can always open the pit zips to ventilate it.

Overall, a damn good coat.

Everything I can throw at it!

You don't have a link or a picture of this do you?

"What's everyone wearing?"

It all depends on the fishing/hunting season. For duck I've got a super-thick woolrich jacket for the really bad days, and a Beretta conversion set for all the other days of duck season.

Essentially my whipcord cruiser it is this coat:

BUT instead of being made from 26 oz. Mackinaw wool it is made of the same 17 oz. whipcord fabric as these pants:

I got mine for $20 or $30 in a junk shop--they didn't know what they had  But even in Seattle 17 oz. wool is a bit much in the Summer
