Looking to buy a knife, please advise for --- female, general house hold use indoors, larger hand, stable larger grip, balanced, sensitive skin, easy open and close, not cheap but not super super expensive, I really like the spyderco knife, but that hole in the blade to open and close is too uncomfortable to use for my skin, as are many other knives to get open . . . thank you.

If you want to open with one hand try a flipper knife with a tab in back. If your going to open with two hands a nail Nick that has an channel in blade to open will work Best advice is go to a store you can try the knife and tell salesperson what you need it for. Also find someone who knows knives to help you

You started with a good knife! You can always open the spyderco with 2 hands . Bench made imho is a bit smoother and I like the axis lock. The Buck 110 is also a good knife for general use.

Thank you . . . looked at all suggestions . . . just think a grippier grip is what I need, not a smooth thin grip, the grippier the better. Maybe a flipper knife is for me . . . but is this one worth that price? wow . . . kinda pricey.....
Zero Tolerance Hinderer 0561 Knife Dark Earth G10 (3.75" Stonewash) ZT

(just starting to learn about knives . . . yes spyderco is so great, but want something easier to open with one hand) And something heavy duty long lasting too.

Something to keep in mind about grip is that barring moisture, oil, etc. it is more about the way the handle fits in your hand than the texture. Texture can matter but shape is the most important.

Thank you. Yes, right, I need to find a good grip for sure . . . am willing to order online until stores open up, but I might wait so I can try them out. I wanted a non flipper that is easy to open and close, but if there are none, flippers seem good for me. I don't like how little room there is to grasp to open a knife.

Emerson Sheepdog?

Maybe to easy to open

Thank you, wow, Emerson Sheepdog - to open it looks great for me easy!, handle ridges look nice and grippy and good size, but I don't like those sharp pointy things I have to press to close, I really am sensitive with such things. WE 912 synergy, have to look more closely at that one, maybe.

The knifeworks.com exclusive Benchmade Grizzly Ridge might be worth looking at.

edited- I just noticed it was out of stock.

Massdrop Laconico Keen. My wife has a Purple Groove version she likes a lot. It’s a
3 1/2-inch titanium flipper. Excellent grip even for a large men’s hand.

I think a Benchmade Mini Crooked River would be good for you.. Have you looked at the Zt0357? It sounds like it would work for you as well its got a filling handle and a great blade shape for everyday carry. I'd also recommend a Hogue Deka. The grip is a little thinner but its great size, crazy lite, and the handle is pretty grippy without bothering your skin?

The Benchmade Mini Crooked River Pocketknife - - that opening and closing system looks good . . . Hogue Deka, looks good too . . . watching more videos on these . . . thank you . . . so many kinds, so grateful for this DB, it has saved me so much time in researching.

Some reason you don't want a fixed blade knife in a sheath? No opening and closing, sturdier, etc. Just pick one the fits your hand well and consider the kind of blade shape most useful to the tasks your need it for and you're good! Fixed blades from Mora (cheaper), Buck, Benchmade, and countless other companies might be worth considering. Even Victorinox has gotten into the fixed blade scene although their fixed blades are made by Meula in Spain:

Why not just get a small fixed blade? You simply pull it out and it's done...
Yes, why not a fixed? It is for the house inside only. But would a folding knife be safer for me? Folding a sharp knife away versus sticking a sharp knife back into it's holder, after each use. Which is safer to prevent accidents. Say I am using it . . . put it down for a minute, use it again. I might close a folded knife each time, then use it again, but I might not put a fixed knife back in it's holder as quickly as I fold a knife. Not sure. Somehow a folded knife might be safer. I will think about that.
