Has anyone got the KA-BAR TDI? Is it long enough to defend yourself with at the 2 5/16 inch blade length?

How about the ankle size model at 3 1/2 inches? I like that blade length better but this model doesn't seem to come with any way to attach it to the belt though without buying accessories ($18 for two cloth belt loop straps!)?

Thanks for your opinon as I would be getting it mail order and haven't had the opportunity to heft the knives.

There is a thread on exactly this issue in prac tac, take a look.

I lost my small TDI, but I still carry a large TDI in my bag, great knife.

A small blade can be used effectively, its a matter of tactics. The 9/11 high-jackers were armed with box-cutters.

The physics of the TDI make it bite in deep, and IMO it would open someone right up.

Thanks Bolt-action bultema,

They both look nice. I saw some methods to lash them on your belt, belt loops etc. on YouTube. Kinda primitive but doable. I'm thinking a small Tek-Lok would be the anwer.

I'll check out the prac tac section, if I can find it.

It's all about where ya put the blade man.......2 5/16" in the right place will do the trick.

I found that thread and posted:

(I don't have one yet) But IMO, the TDI could be a great slasher in the standard pistol grip as well. It would of course, depend on how limber your wrists are.

It appears that simply ripping it across a target area like holding a hammer and sliding it down a wall to catch a nail with the claw end would be the "cut" that I'm trying to describe.
