I would prefer pancake to taco style but I know someone here has some info. Thanks in advance

I have a Mean Street. I went with pancake over taco. It had more carry options. The taco only has rivets on one side where as the pancake has rivets on both sides. Room for tek lok and Para chord.

From personal experience I can say Dave Browns stuff is top notch..

I checked it out, I'm a fan of the pancake that you can take apart for cleaning andI I'm planning on adding leather to it also, to protect the LE finish. I going to ask if that's possible, thanks for the help

I second for Dave Brown. Great designs, great dude, great service..... And I know that he's done leather over Kydex before....he's crafty enough to think of something to suit you. Leather on the inside, that's a thought that ought to intrigue him:D

I was going to do the leather work, I just need the sheath... I bought leather today. I want to buy one that can be disassembled

Ok.... Nice challenge. let us know:thumbup:

I've got knives ( and an AK 47) with satin finish. Kydex was never a problem. Unless the knife is inserted with dirt on the blade.... Then I could see how the dirt rubbing between the steel and Kydex could damage the finish. I've get a very nice 440c knife that David made a sheath for. I use it in the kitchen along with an AMSMO, and an R3. No scratches. I clean them after every use though.

I have a Mashed Cat for mine that I love. I have sheaths made by David Brown and Al Welke on other blades that are first class also. Can't go wrong with any of those makers IMO.

Dave Brown makes a very nice sheath for the AMS. I have two of his and am very happy with them.

I'm limiting myself to these craftsmen, they are the best, everyone can't be wrong... I've heard nothing but good things

I have a Dave Brown for my Amsmo. I went with taco style. It's very nicely made and I would recommend him for your ams.

Not sure about a kydex/leather sheath but my AMS sheath from Mashed Cat fits great.

I'm not a sheath maker but won't you need to add the leather when the kydex is formed to the knife? Or are you looking for more of a generic fit?

If the knife is pre formed to the kydex then when I take it apart I'll glue the leather to it then put it back in a kydex press, or I'll add 1 spacer to the middle of the two pieces of kydex. If I ruin it then I ruin it. It's not as if it's a huge sheath. I'm starting small. I have a buddy who is a leather guy around here. He has given me some very thin top grain Italian leather and if I fail or if I succeed I'll show you what I've got. I'm feeling optimistic, the leather should be thin enough to protect but thin enough to not hinder the retention it will only be on the blade portion not where the kydex meets the g10.

Those leather lined kydex sheaths are really pretty slick, had a couple made for a few Hortons of mine,,,

I've been carrying an AMS around in this sheath. I kind of dig the horizontal appendix carry. Not really sure who made though,,,

It looks cool, how does that appendix carry do, like in the day to day? That is OWB or IWB?

OWB. Almost don't notice it, except when you have to undo your belt. It rides pretty close to the buckle, so the knife handle isn't poking out too far.
