Recently i purchased this Billhook machete knife for 10 dollars, manufactured by the company Rinaldi in Italy i believe thats where they are manufactured, the blade is rusted and it looks fairly old, i am unable to find any Rinaldi bill hooks that have the same mark on the side of the blade, the only mark is the word and number, "Rinaldi-3" , the companies emblem is NOT marked like on the more contemporary billhooks they sell, which leads me to think it is one of the older ones they've created.

Mine looks like the bottom Rinaldi with the leather handle and same shape except the difference pointed out previously. I would like to see if anyone knows anything about this Rinaldi Billhook i have, and possibly how old it is, and any history on it. Thank You!

Rinaldi are one of the long established Italian firms still producing a range of billhooks (over 200 years of history). Without an image of your billhook, it is difficult to date. Other Italian makers' catalogues can be found on my website: http://www.billhooks.co.uk/catalogues/italian/ Rinaldi's catalogue can be found at http://www.flli-rinaldi.it/roncole-accessori.asp Billhooks were often sold in a range of sizes, from 1 to 4, or in some cases 00 to 5 - I guess 3 is the size. I have images of one old Rinaldi - if you contact me via my website I'll send you copies of them.
